Friend of the Program and NYC Local Legend David Berrie was kind enough to flip his newest remix our way, a dreamy, synthy progressive remake of Ellie Goulding’s The Lights. Perfection as usual for Mr. Berrie, who included video evidence of this track crushing a Dayglow party he headlined last week, which can be found near the end of the above video.
1) The Lights (dBerrie Remix)-Ellie Goulding **Dumb Hot**
Wonderful to see Berrie’s sound evolve and take in other influences as the vocal sampling and drum progression at the beginning of the track show glimpses of his recent foray into disco-house. Goulding’s vocals are a win though, and a perfect compliment to Berrie’s production.
21 year-old LA based DJ/Producer David Dann has distinguished himself from the droves of up & coming house DJs through his exemplary podcast series “Mind of a Genius” and his remarkable live sets. His success has seen him recently complete a tour of South America which included multiple stops in Brazil and Argentina. On the verge of releasing his album, Dann has released this brilliantly edited promotional video that does a brilliant job of shedding light on the excitement and glamour of the big gig, the rigors of the road, and the dedication that it takes to succeed in this game.
Off to Europa! Take these nuggets to hold you over for the weekend.
First: a video of the club I’ll be destroying on Friday night, featuring my boy Jacomino doing work.
Second: The biggest release of the week from Dutch Up & Comer Nicky Romero who has been absolutely killing it.
1) Solar (Original Mix)-Nicky Romero ***FUEGO***
Massive progressive jams like this are few and far between. Romero has shown versatility in his productions, mastering his native Dutch sound with bangers like his remix of “Flash”, more minimal techy jams like “My Friend”, and now this guy. This is his Conscindo. Pay attention. Presta attencion.
THIRD: NEW PLEASUREKRAFT!
1) Zooloo (Pleasurekraft Remix)-Miles Dyson ***HIELO***
Speaking of minimal tech…Pleasurekraft ascends to the top 10 acts I have never seen list with this bad-boy.
FOURTH: Charlie Sheen Dubstep?
3) Charlie Sheen Dub (Original Mix)-Ephixa
Incase any of you sick fucks actually want the MP3…
Have a great weekend everyone!
If you don’t have any of these essential jams already, I am mandating an immediate download. All are very different styles, but declaring them crucial to your Itunes is an understatement.
#1) Remedy (Avicii Club Remix) – Little Boots
Classic Avicii. His progressive house never ceases to disappoint. Rapture-esque.
#2) Hey Brap! – Laidback Luke, Diplo & Bart B More
Aggressive drop. Jams like this are why I excessively worship Laidback’s dutch house.
#3) Perfect Stranger (Steve Angello Remix) – Magnetic Man feat. Katy B.
Dope-show. If you don’t have this one, your missing out. Its little things like throwing the word “Change” before the drop that makes this guy the MASTER. Shout out to my boy Moses for enlightening me prior to hearing it drop NYE @ Roseland Ballroom.
#4) Silvia to Ibiza – Miike Snow vs. Swedish House Mafia
Ahhh what a way to end the post. Beautiful music. All that can be said. Used to only have set rips of this mash but I finally found an HQ version. Enjoy.
Porter Robinson is on FIRE. The North Carolina native is absolutely chronic status. Oh, and he’s 18 years old. No big deal? Let me put this in perspective, this man could be headlining festivals less than a year after his prom. His electro-house skills will be talked about on the Wolfgang, Skrillex, Mau5 levels before he can legally drink alcohol.
#1) Less Go! (Porter Robinson Remix) – Spencer & Hill feat. Lil Jon
Just trying to feed you guys the crack. When you listen to this, its impossible not to note the already established resemblance to the aforementioned studs of Gartner and and Deadmau5. Extremely impressive.
#2) Seek Bromance (Porter Robinson Remix) – Tim Berg
Throws an epic electro-house drop on one of the most recognized house tracks of the year. DOPE show. I really can’t get over this kid.
The 21 year old Swedish stud kills it again. This guy is on a tear and ended his U.S. tour Saturday night (Jan. 15) @ club GLOW at Fur night club in Washington D.C. I only wish I was there to witness what turned out to be an epic set concluding at 4:30 A.M. with his “Set Me Free” mix posted below. Highly recommend scoping it with a few other new jams that were dropped. Avicii is going straight to the top 15. Believe it…
1) Set Me Free (Avicii Mix) – Phonat
This mix is FIRE. 4:30 conclusion to his set – wow. Shout out to MBS and J-Mill for filling me in. I’m jealous. I know you guys killed it.
2) Rapture (Avicii New Generation Extended Mix) – Nadia Ali
If you haven’t heard this yet, you are missing out. CRACK. Avicii shows off his Progressive House skills and proves the fact that he has got it all and covers so many different genres in his sets.
3) Make My Heart (Avicii’s Replacer Mix) – Toni Braxton
Another dank remix. Avicii continues to post new music at an unbelievable rate. He’s a prodigy.
9 new Afrojack tracks!
Pick up all nine at my good buddy AJ’s brand new website TheHouseof212, and support his site regularly.
here are my three favorites.
1)Funk With Me (Original Mix)-Afrojack *Hot*
The drop. So Dutch. So amazing.
2)The King (Original Mix)-Afrojack *Hot*
Jack does his best Deadmau5 imitation. A supreme techy, electro-y bounce. This song is a rollercoaster. You need to stay on for all 9 minutes. I want to say things begin picking up around 5:40. The synths that start building up around 6:34, and continue to evolve in pitch for the remainder of the song, I mean this is the stuff of genius right here. A side of Afrojack you have never heard before.
3)Bubblegum (Original Mix)-Afrojack
one more, why not. Tis the season of giving.
Houstmas continues tomorrow with Axwell’s “AxMas” mix on Pete Tong’s Essential Mix. Make sure you tune in.
