House Music, It's La Cosa Nostra

David Berrie

David Berrie Hits the Charts

It’s a huge day for the New York City House Scene, as NYC Legend, dGi artist, and supporter of B10 David Berrie¬†has charted on Beatport for the first time. His Tech-House EP, Aztek/Underslang, demonstrates the house purist’s venture into a darker, more Ibizesque style, a genuine rebuttal to the poppy-dance-music wave that has permeated the mainstream.

Both of the tracks are available for streaming in pristine 320 kbps below. David is no stranger to Since our inception he has been providing us with free bootlegs and remixes for our listening pleasure. Now he needs us to show him love back.

Came back from the gym to a pleasant surprise,

An e-mail from Yoni at dGi Management with this little nugget of house amazingness attached.

Berrie always kills it in Wisco, so you can imagine my excitement that he’ll be returning here for the Day-Glow Party.

A close friend of a lot of the former 613 N. Frances alums, it’s good to hear homie producing tight music.

What impresses me the most about the track is how Berrie is able to build this remix around the vocals at 2:20, rather than overpowering them. This subtle approach maintains the dreamy aspect of the original, especially that enchanting harp, augmenting the power of the drop at 3:15. The track to me has influences of Morillo, and has a sound I wouldn’t be surprised to hear on a Subliminal Records release or dropping at Privelege Ibiza at 3am.
