House Music, It's La Cosa Nostra

Sweedest Dreams

The best Swede Dreams┬áremix came from…wait for it…A Frenchman?

Apparently, as Gregori Klosman drops this bomb on his Soundcloud today. Guess where you’ll be able to download it on June 6th? I got you fam.

1)Swede Dreams (Gregori Klosman Remix)-Avicii

I was joking on the B10 facebook page just now that if these two guys keep it up, very soon my entire DJ sets are going to be nothing but Klosman/Nicky Romero tracks…

He’s coming.

It’s almost time. The hottest DJ in the world hits Madison, Forever changing the way Mad Ave will be perceived as a venue.

Less than 100 tickets left.

1) Agora (Original Mix)-Thomas Gold ***FUEGO***

This track was featured on Strictly Rhythm Records’ Avicii Miami chart. It bumps. Perfect track to get you ready for the melodic rhythms of the Swedish wunderkind on Wednesday.

Madison goes Dance Crazy

The Dance Music craze is here, and whether you want to be a part of it or not, you can’t deny the influence it is having in the Music sphere these days. With the help of myself and other individuals on campus, Madison is now at the start of its Golden Age of dance music. A testament to this? The two incredible shows we have coming up this month.

Both of these DJs were featured in the Essential Mix (a 2 Hour Mix show on BBC Radio 1) in back to back weeks. Listen to their mixes, and find yourself utterly captivated at how different, but amazing, their sounds and styles are.

1)Avicii Essential Mix 11-12-10 (MEDIAFIRE LINK)

This was shocking as we saw this production seemingly evolve from a futile grassroots viral campaign to a reality within the span of a week. Props must be given to Alex Mayer and the PSG for taking on such a risky production, but the talent for this show is immense, and the venue is taking on the necessary renovations to host such an incredible artist. Avicii’s sets are melodic, sensual, and his pacing is remarkable. While many young artists seem to become jaded by the fame, Avicii seems more appreciative and grateful that fans dig his productions. This feeling is tangible when he’s DJing.

2)Wolfgang Gartner Essential Mix 11-06-10 (MEDIAFIRE LINK)

This was a no-brainer. The best American DJ, playing in Chicago the night prior, no Sunday show scheduled, I made an offer immediately. Wolfgang Gartner’s DJ sets are a capricious, chaotic, unrelenting electro-house spectacle that will leave you sweaty, repulsive, and begging for more. Harvard Bass was the cherry on top.

So there you have it Madison. Consider this a taste of what’s to come next year, ps.

Avicii @ Up & Down Barcelona

Tomorrow night, courtesy of the legendary Kyke Navarro, Avicii takes his talents to Up & Down aka Oshum in Barcelona

Tickets available HERE.

Should be a hectic night. I had the pleasure of DJing at Oshum last month. One of the cooler gigs of my life. Here’s a video taken from that night.

1)Drowning (Avicii Remix)-Armin Van Buuren

Somehow I never got around to posting this track. It’s a doozie though. A lot of the credit has to go to Laura V’s vocals.

Avicii Music Week

Playing Ultra 3 Days in a row?

2011 is the year of Avicii, and all we can do is sit back and watch him take over.

Mark my words that he cracks the DJMag Top 10 this year.

2 records to celebrate his dominance.

1)Seek Bromance (Digital LAB & Pedro Henriquez 2011 Remake)-Avicii

Seek Bromance is starting to get played out but this record has such a hard intro and a fantastic drop into the vocals. I don’t know what they were thinking though because when the drums come in the vocals dont match the beat but we can forgive them for that.

2) Cross The Line (Main Club Mix)-Chris Lake & Marco Lys

This guy was taken off of Avicii’s Miami essential selection. It bumps. It starts out pretty Techy but turns into a big-room crusher out of nowhere.

Stumbled upon this hilarious picture of the consummate blogger taking a video of Avicii in action.

In other news, check out this absurd video of Fedde dropping Nicky Romero’s remix of Flash.

Avicii on a MEGA

Two new bangers. ID & Penguin. You heard it hear first. Well, you probably didn’t since I was too lazy all week to post them. Crushes souls with his progressive tracks once again. Man’s on another level. Can’t wait to see THREE shows at Ultra. Feature two unbelievable synths and when I heard him throw the finally moving lyrics on ID I almost melted into my computer. Penguin has more of a super chill, piano-esque progressive feel. Check it, NOW…

#1) ID (Original Mix) – Avicii

#2) Penguin (Original Mix) – Avicii

Throw-Back Crack

If you don’t have any of these essential jams already, I am mandating an immediate download. All are very different styles, but declaring them crucial to your Itunes is an understatement.

#1) Remedy (Avicii Club Remix) – Little Boots

Classic Avicii. His progressive house never ceases to disappoint. Rapture-esque.

#2) Hey Brap! – Laidback Luke, Diplo & Bart B More

Aggressive drop. Jams like this are why I excessively worship Laidback’s dutch house.

#3) Perfect Stranger (Steve Angello Remix) – Magnetic Man feat. Katy B.

Dope-show. If you don’t have this one, your missing out. Its little things like throwing the word “Change” before the drop that makes this guy the MASTER. Shout out to my boy Moses for enlightening me prior to hearing it drop NYE @ Roseland Ballroom.

#4) Silvia to Ibiza – Miike Snow vs. Swedish House Mafia

Ahhh what a way to end the post. Beautiful music. All that can be said. Used to only have set rips of this mash but I finally found an HQ version. Enjoy.
