Don’t skip over this post cuz its got the word DUB in it. I haven’t ever been an avid fan of the Dubstep – more of a hater actually. But a few of these jams have really started to sway my previously close-minded view. Everyone knows the DJs that dabble with it, like Bassnectar and Skrillex, but I’ve never given the straight Dub DJs a chance. Flux Pavillion and Zeds Dead (pictured above, respectfully) are crushing it with HEAVY bass-in-your-face remixes like the ones below. I didn’t think it was possible, but I really dig it. Maybe you will too. Seriously, check em out..
#1) Gold Dust (Flux Pavillion Remix) – DJ Fresh
#2) I Cant Stop – Flux Pavillion
Gold Dust is pretty well known but both are essential. I’ve been looping em non stop.
#3) Eyes On Fire (Zeds Dead Remix) – Blue Foundation
CRACK. Zeds Dead on a Mega.
#4) Magical World (feat. Nelly Furtado) – Bassnectar
So chill. Dare I say better than his remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” – maybe a stretch.
#5) Hold On (feat. Amber Coffman) (Sub Focus Remix) – Rusko
**The essence of a dope Dub Step track. I’m sure you’ve heard this dropped live. MUST download if you don’t have.**
#6) Just Be Good to Green (feat. Lilly Allen) (Joker Remix) – Professor Green
#7) Reptile – Skrillex
Skrillex at it again. Man’s on a run.
I’ll try to lay off the Dubstep for a while for all you house lovers, but give it a chance!
New Benassi banger. The guy is a legend. 43 years old and still rolling out with chronic house productions. And there just always seems to be a Skrillex remix of the tracks I post… Enjoy.
1) Cinema (Radio Edit) – Benny Benassi ft. Gary Go
I really dig the lyrics and build up, super housey yet smooth on the ears. Right up Benassi’s alley.
2) Cinema (Skrillex Remix) – Benny Benassi ft. Gary Go
CHRONZ, as always. Blowing up is an understatement at this point to describe Skrillex. Can’t wait to see him in Chicago next week.
What to take away from this?
1. Our afterparty is going to be 30 minutes longer (good shit!)
2. Skrillex is amazing, so you’re gonna want to see him.
1) My Name is Skrillex (Original Mix)-Skrillex
Markell originally posted this track in August, but our readership has expanded, and it has added context, so I figured it merited a re-post. This is Skrillex’s “Ghosts N’ Stuff”, and undoubtedly the track that got him signed to Mau5trap records. Give it a listen and you’ll quickly understand why he’s opening for Joel. Adept Big10 listeners that this song is also the song that Mau5 transitions out of at the beginning of our Sofi Needs a Ladder set-rip.
2) Rock That Body (Skrillex Remix)-Black Eyed Peas
Once again, the similarities between Mau5 and Skrillex are inescapable in this track, as you’ll even notice that he rips some of the synths from Mau5’s unreleased “Cthulu Sleeps” around the 2:06 minute mark.
3) Alejandro (Skrillex Remix)- Lady Gaga
One more for the ladies. Girls and boys alike will dig the Wolfgang-type breakdown at the 1:59 mark.
